The short answer

What is a good Dyno alternative for logging?

Quark is a Discord bot built only for logging, for servers that want more detail than a general-purpose bot's log module gives them. It logs deleted messages with their images and files, edits, voice activity, invites, and changes to roles, channels and server settings. Quark can replace Dyno's logs or run alongside Dyno.

Key facts

  • Quark runs next to Dyno. Turn off Dyno's Action Log module so each event is logged once.
  • Quark logs deleted images and files, full edit history, voice activity with time in channel, and the invite each new member used.
  • Dyno's documentation says it caches the last 10 messages per channel, or 100 with premium.
  • Each category of log can go to its own channel.
  • Quark has /ban, /kick, /mute and /purge. For automod or custom commands, keep Dyno alongside it.
  • Quark is used in 115,000+ Discord servers.

Coverage

If it happens in your server, Quark logs it.

General-purpose bots treat logging as one feature among dozens. Quark is built around it, which is why the list is this long.

You don't have to switch

Keep Dyno for automod and custom commands, and give the logging to Quark. The two run side by side. Turn off Dyno's Action Log module once Quark is posting so you don't get every event twice.

When Dyno's logs are enough

If you only need to know that something happened, and a channel per event on the free plan matters more to you than how far back a deleted message can be read, Dyno's Action Log does the job without a second bot.

What moderators say after moving their logs.

“We really like Quark: being able to see full edit history and having almost everything logged is a huge help. It's better than Dyno for both message and voice chat logging.”
SPN, AdminF²Games™ · 195K+ members
“We normally used other types of bots, but most of them would frequently go offline or stop logging some messages. Quark was recommended to me as being reliable and more detailed when it comes to logs.”
Salt, Server ManagerAnime Last Stand · 1.04M+ members
“Quark is a great Discord bot, far superior to Dyno for documenting information. Image storage is much better, and channels for keeping everything organised and accessible.”

Dyno alternative FAQ

Yes. Quark only handles logging, so it does not clash with Dyno's moderation, automod or custom commands. Run both, and turn off Dyno's Action Log module so each event is only logged once.

Dyno's documentation says it caches the last 10 messages per channel, or 100 with premium, and that a message further back than that is not logged when it is deleted. It also says Dyno does not log the file or embed content of a deleted message. Quark keeps message content for 12 hours on the free plan, or 4 weeks on Quark Pro, and keeps the files.

It covers the basics. Quark has /ban, /kick, /mute and /purge, plus tags, and it logs every action taken. Its focus is logging, so if you rely on Dyno for automod or custom commands, keep Dyno and let Quark take over the logs.

Bans, kicks and timeouts are always logged, whoever or whatever issued them, including another bot. Other actions done by or to a bot, such as a role handed out by a reaction-role bot, are left out by default. Choosing to log those is part of Quark Pro Lite and Quark Pro.

Invite Quark, run /logging and choose your log channels. Quark starts posting straight away. Your old Dyno log messages stay where they are; new events go to the channels you picked.

Quark logs deleted images and files, full edit history, deleted stickers, voice joins, leaves and moves with time in channel, the invite a new member used, and changes to roles, channels, webhooks and server settings. Each category can go to its own channel.

Yes. The free plan includes every log type, a channel for each category of log, ignore rules and the live web viewer, and it keeps the content of deleted messages that are up to 12 hours old. Quark Pro extends that to 4 weeks and adds 30 days of searchable log history on the web, CSV export, and the moderator behind server mutes and deafens.
