Discord stores audit log entries for 45 days. After that they are removed and cannot be recovered. A mod log channel run by a bot like Quark keeps the record for as long as the channel exists.

The audit log is Discord's built-in record of administrative actions in a server, such as bans, kicks, role changes and channel edits. It lives in Server Settings and can be read by members with the View Audit Log permission. Entries are kept for 45 days.

Invite Quark, run /logging and choose a channel for moderation logs. From then on every ban, kick and timeout is posted there with the moderator and the reason.

The audit log is Discord's built-in list of administrative actions, kept in Server Settings for 45 days. A mod log is a channel in your own server where a bot posts each action as a message, so it lasts, can be read by anyone you allow, and can include things the audit log leaves out, like deleted message content.

Bans, kicks and timeouts are always logged, whoever or whatever issued them, including another bot. Other actions done by or to a bot, such as a role handed out by a reaction-role bot, are left out by default. Choosing to log those is part of Quark Pro Lite and Quark Pro.
